Project Description
- State the purpose and objectives of this Ministry or Project:
In wau there are two primary schools run by the salesian sisters, a vocational training centre run by the salesian fathers, a parish, parish schools and a health centre with the following activities:
- Out patient department
- Mother and child health programme
- Under five clinic
- Nutrition programme
- Health education programme
- Immunisation programme
- Outreach programme in 9 centres
- Community health workers training programme
- Nurses training programme
There will be a dental care unit opening soon. There is also a need for an eye clinic.
- Briefly describe the background and present situation of this ministry:
The health care facilities in the south Sudan are very very poor.
- Give a brief description of the area in which the lay missioner would be working. Include information such as: rural or urban, income level of area, primary needs of the people in the area, etc.)
The condition of the place is very poor. No electricity, no public transport and poor communication facilities.
- Are there any special problems or conditions in the area or project which might restrict some applicants: political, health, personnel, etc. Please describe.
Job Description
- List and describe the major duties to be performed in this ministry or job. Please also include an estimation on the number of hours per day/week you spend on each duty.
There is a need for nursing tutors for the training programme, dentists, lab technicians and eye specialists with all the instuments. There is also a need for fitters, builders, etc. Teachers are also most welcome.

We do not have excellent accomodation. The sisters share a three bedded room. For the volunteers, we are trying to build a small house where each one can have a single rooms complete with toilet.

Since there is no electricity in the evening hours generator will function about three hours. It is a hot place and is very much underdeveloped. Though we are in the capital city of western bahr al gazal it is like a village in other places. There is security. people are good.
