Thank you for checking out our website and finding out more about opportunities for service with the Salesians. Allow me to congratulate you on your generous desire to help poor and at-risk youth! Salesians are involved in countless forms of education and evangelization. Our purpose is to help our young people become good citizens and committed Christians.
Our application process is as follows:
- Fill out the application form (either online or download) and send it to us along with your personal statement and recent photograph. Many candidates choose to send a resume as well.
- When we receive the application from you, we will send you three evaluation forms for you to use to obtain references.
- Along with the references, we will also send you a medical form to be completed by a physician and request that you sign and send us the authorization sheet for us to do a background check. We also request you to have a driving record sent to us (obtainable at your local DMV). We do not need to receive these materials before your interview, but we will consider them as a part of the application process.
- When we have received all of the materials in step one and your three evaluation forms, we will contact you to schedule a phone interview. During the interview, we will further explore your interests and motivations. We will also discuss in more detail some specific sites.
- The final step is to invite candidates to our orientation. During orientation, if the applicant still considers it to be God's will that he or she go to the missions, the applicant is invited to a make a commitment.
The application process is one of mutual discernment: we are trying to discover with you whether our program is right for you. Through the process, we also try to learn enough about you to find a placement in which you can use the unique gifts that the Lord has given you.
